Both are neuromodulators that relax the small muscles that create expression lines. Botox has decades of track record and typically lasts three to four months. Neuromodulator injections use a very fine needle and take seconds per area; most people describe a small pinch. Most dermal fillers contain lidocaine, and numbing cream is available, so filler appointments are comfortable for the large majority of clients.

Neuromodulators start working in about three to seven days, with the full effect at around two weeks. Filler results are visible immediately, and the final look settles once any swelling resolves, usually within two weeks.

Hyaluronic acid fillers, the type used for lips, cheeks, chin and jawline, can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if ever needed. This is one of the reasons they are the standard for natural, conservative enhancement.
