What masseter Botox does

Botox relaxes the masseter so it works less hard. A muscle that works less gradually becomes smaller, which softens a square or wide jaw into a slimmer, more tapered shape. Nothing is removed and nothing is added: the change comes from the muscle itself.

How many units, and what it costs

The masseters are large muscles, so they take more units than the forehead or frown lines, and the dose depends on how strong yours are. What to expect

A few quick injections on each side, no numbing needed and no downtime. The slimming is gradual: most people start to notice it after a few weeks, as the muscle relaxes. For the first weeks, very chewy food can tire the jaw a little sooner than usual.

How long it lasts

Often four to six months. Because the change comes from the muscle slimming, it fades gradually rather than all at once, and repeat treatments maintain the result.

Masseter Botox or jawline filler?

They do opposite things. Masseter Botox slims a jaw that is wide because of muscle. Jawline filler adds definition to a jaw that lacks it. At the consultation Koral will tell you which, if either, suits your face.

Aftercare

• Stay upright and avoid lying flat for about four hours
• Skip strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for the rest of the day
• Do not rub, massage or press on the treated areas
• Makeup is fine after a few hours if the skin is calm
• Expect a possible small bump or bruise that settles within days
• A follow-up at two weeks is included to fine-tune if needed
